Olivia Rodrigo to headline 2023 MTV VMAs

The following will make fans of Olivia Rodrigo a little "happier."

The pop artist will be the first solo performer at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Which will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It was revealed on Thursday.

Rodrigo, whose much awaited sophomore album GUTS drops on Friday, has been nominated for six awards this year, including video of the year.

She also performed at the awards ceremony in 2021, belting out a spirited rendition of her smash song "Good 4 u."

Rodrigo, who had previously been an MTV Push Artist, was one of the year's other first-time nominees and shared.

The record for most awards won with three each for best new artist, Push artist, and song of the year.

Rodrigo spoke candidly to singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers in an Interview Magazine cover story on the intense media attention.

She has experienced since exploding to prominence in 2021, in advance of the release of her new album GUTS.

In response to the question of whether she ever believes it is her duty "to send the subject of a song the song before it comes out," Rodrigo recalled the debut of her popular song "Drivers License."
