The 2023 season for Paul Skenes has officially ended, according to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Out of LSU, who won this year's NCAA National Championship, he was chosen first overall.
He has been put on the development list after making five starts in professional baseball,
with an eye toward becoming ready for the 2024 campaign.Skenes pitched 122.2 innings,
and struck out 209 batters for LSU this season. Despite throwing over 120 pitches in three of his last four games,
he had a fantastic 1.69 ERA and frequently continued to throw into the triple digits late in games.
In the Pirates organization, he made five starts, but owing to load management,
