STAMFORD, CT — "Sunday Night Football" changed its on-air and production lineups last year. What remained constant was the show's enormous popularity.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, which begins on Thursday, the Sunday night show hopes to extend its 12-year reign as the most-watched prime-time television program.
The SNF crew is sure that the show will continue to appeal, citing an on-air roster that swiftly gelled last season and a lot of fascinating themes to cover this season.
"There's nothing like Sunday nights," Mike Tirico, who is back for his second season as SNF's play-by-play announcer and his 18th consecutive season calling NFL prime-time games, remarked last week on a media conference call.
"There's an unmistakable juice and energy to it, and it's a privilege to be a part of this package."The defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will open the regular season against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.
"Kansas City is one of the best places to play a game anywhere." Everyone usually talks about how you can smell the grill and see the people.
"It's unique. It's neither Green Bay, nor is it one of those cities where you can just feel it, like Buffalo. That is not the case.
However, it is a fan base that has witnessed the very best of football at the greatest level.
