Tyler Smith injury update: Dak Prescott's Cowboys face Giants in Week 1

The Dallas Cowboys had a mostly uneventful offseason, but one of Dak Prescott's protectors has been dealt a blow on the eve of the regular season.

With the Dallas offense regarded as one of the finest in the league, Prescott will need every player to be present and at their best

when the Cowboys take the field at MetLife Stadium on Sunday Night Football to face the New York Giants.

Tyler Smith has a tight hamstring, according to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and will miss the Cowboys' Week 1 game against the Giants.

While a hamstring strain isn't the end of the world, the Cowboys' medical team is probably being cautious with Smith because it makes no sense to risk him on the eve of the season.

The Cowboys have a fantastic opportunity to start the season on a high note as Dak Prescott attempts to deploy Mike McCarthy's West Coast Offense against the Giants.

After going 2-0 against the Giants last season, Dallas will want to jump ahead in the division early, and it will also be the first time we see Dak Prescott's arsenal in real NFL action.

We already know about CeeDee Lamb, Tony Pollard, and Michael Gallup, but Brandin Cooks, Rico Dowdle, Hunter Luepke, and Jalbert Tolbert will all have a chance to shine at MetLife Stadium.
